THE RAJA MUDA KEDAH GRANTS THE VICE-CHANCELLOR AN AUDIENCE
UUM ONLINE: Alor Setar - His Royal Highness (HRH) Tengku Sarafudin Badlishah Ibni Al Aminul Karim Sultan Sallehuddin, the Raja Muda of Kedah Darul Aman granted the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dato' Dr. Ahmad Bashawir Abdul Ghani an audience at Wisma Darulaman recently.
The aim of the audience was to apprise HRH on several matters including the Royal Convocation Ceremony and Inauguration of the Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) Pro-Chancellors Ceremony.
During the ceremony, HRH Al Aminul Karim Sultan Sallehuddin Ibni Almarhum Sultan Badlishah, the Sultan of Kedah who is also the Tuanku Chancellor of UUM will be awarded the Honorary Doctor of Philosophy Degree (Administration and Public Development) apart from the inauguration of Yang Teramat Mulia Dato' Seri DiRaja Tunku Shazuddin Ariff Ibni Al Aminul Karim Sultan Sallehuddin, the Tunku Laksamana Kedah and Yang Teramat Mulia Tengku Tan Sri (Dr.) Dato' Paduka Mahaleel Tengku Ariff as the new Pro-Chancellors of UUM.
In addition, Prof. Dato’ Dr. Ahmad Bashawir also apprised HRH on the Proclamation Ceremony of the Sultan Sallehuddin Chancellery Building by the Tuanku Sultan of Kedah and the launch of the book entitled 'Lagu Nobat Diraja Kedah' which will also take place on the day of the Royal Convocation and Pro-Chancellors’ Inauguration Ceremony.
Apart from that, HRH was also apprised on the publication of a special book in conjunction with the presentation of the Honorary Doctor of Philosophy Degree (Administration and Public Development) to Tuanku Chancellor in appreciation of HRH's contribution in the development of the state of Kedah since performing his duties as the Tunku Laksamana of Kedah until he was installed as the 29th Sultan of Kedah.
HRH was also apprised on the 34th Convocation Ceremony of Universiti Utara Malaysia which is expected to be held this year and scheduled to take place in October at the Mu’adzam Shah Hall.
The Vice Chancellor also extended a royal invitation to HRH the Tuanku Raja Muda of Kedah to perform Friday prayers at the Sultan Badlishah Mosque.
Apart from apprising HRH on the latest successes achieved by UUM, the Vice-Chancellor also apprised HRH on the latest situation of UUM students who are allowed to return to campus in stages as put forth by the Ministry of Higher Education. In addition, the 'Connected Campus' agenda and the development of several applications by UUM for the use of students and staff were also discussed.
Before the event came to a close, HRH Tuanku Raja Muda and Vice-Chancellor also discussed the future of UUM until the year 2025 as well as the plans to develop UUM into the Eminent Management University.
